Mount Vesuvius

A visit to Mount Vesuvius is the highlight of many people’s time in the region, and a chance to get up close and personal with the world’s most infamous volcano! Spin along winding roads up the side of Mt Vesuvius with your guide at the wheel, and pass the impressive Vesuvian Observatory - the world’s oldest volcanological monitoring center. You’ll drive through lush green woods of pine and oak, contrasting with the arid ground at the crater above. 

At the peak, vantage points overlook the steaming, bubbling crater, with spectacular views over the Gulf of Naples and the expansive Campania countryside, to the coast of Herculaneum beyond.
