    Itinerary

    • Meet Your Expert Archaeological Guide
    • Check in with your Askos Tours representative at the Porta Marina Superiore, the main entrance of the UNESCO-listed ruins. The representative will be holding up an Askos Tours sign. With your entry tickets to hand, head straight into the Pompeii Archaeological Park. Here, meet your expert archaeological guide and begin your guided walking tour.
    • Explore UNESCO-listed Pompeii
    • During your 2-hour Pompeii visit, stroll through the historic streets to the Forum, the main square and the once-beating heart of bustling Pompeii. Along the way, admire the soaring peak of Mount Vesuvius and listen as your guide shares insight into this ancient city’s dramatic past.
    • As you explore, discover must-see Pompeii sites of interest including the Basilica, the Thermopolium of Asellina, and the Stabian Baths – the oldest thermal complex in the city.
    • Admire the House of Faun – one of the largest and most impressive private residences in Pompeii – and stroll along the Via dell’Abbondanza to the Teatro Grande, the most important theater in Pompeii. We’ll also take in the Lupanare – the world’s oldest house of ill repute.
    • Rest and Relax During Free Time
    • At the end of your Pompeii visit, enjoy free time for lunch (own expense), and rest your legs before the second visit of the day – historic Herculaneum.
    • Visit UNESCO-listed Herculaneum
    • With your guide to show the way, board the swift Circumvesuviana train for the short journey to Herculaneum – the region’s second most famous Roman ruins. The streets and buildings here were buried not by ash, as with Pompeii, but by an avalanche of mud 20 meters thick. Many experts believe the mud to have preserved the site even better than Pompeii, and visitors here gain vivid insight into the opulent lifestyle enjoyed by wealthier citizens of the Roman Empire.
    • During your 2-hour guided Herculaneum tour, explore the House of Neptune and Amphitrite – believed to have been inhabited by a wealthy merchant. See the thermal baths, the Sacello degli Augustali (the Shrine of the Augustali) with its spectacular frescoes, the Terrace of Marcus Nonius Balbus, and the House of the Skeleton.
