Experience an unforgettable excursion travelling from Rome to Naples by fast train and enjoying a small-group tour with an Archaeologist in Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Picked-up at Naples Central Station, take a short drive by comfortable minivan of maximum 8 people from Naples to Pompeii. This tour consists in a marvelous walk around of the ancient Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum enjoying skip-the-line tickets in both sites.
Your tour will be conducted in English, and will cater only to a small group with a maximum of 15 people.
A walk in Pompeii is a very intense experience; you’ll have the feeling of wandering in a town that is still alive. Learn about the history of the town and how the Romans lived and see all the most important public buildings and private houses on a two-hour walk. Highlights include the Marina gate, the basilica, the forum, the forum baths, the lupanar (brothel), the bakery, the house of Faun, the Termopolium Capuano, the house of Tragic Poet and the plaster casts.
Then, stop for lunch downtown Pompeii for around 1 hour.
Afterwards, the driver will pick you up and transfer you to Herculaneum for another two-hour tour with your guide.
Herculaneum is much smaller but better preserved than Pompeii. While Pompeii was covered by four to five meters of ashes, a landslide of 20-meter deep mud buried Herculaneum. Discover the ruins and other archeological highlights; your guide won’t miss a stop at the House of Neptune and Amphitrite, the beach where hundreds of skeletons are preserved.
Relax on the minivan transfer back to Naples Central Station to catch a fast train back to Rome.
