The erotic paintings of the ancient Vesuvian city are among the most original finds of Roman civilization. The House of the Centenary (IX, 8, 6) has a particular small room: a wonderfully frescoed cubiculum with erotic pictures in the middle of the walls. Like, for example, the one who portrays a pair of lovers on a luxurious bed: he is completely naked, she is wearing a bra (strophium) and jewels on her arm and ankles.
