There is no need to queue as you will have priority entrance with tickets booked in advance. Once inside, following a short walk up a gentle slope from Porta Marina, you arrive at the city's Forum. Once arrived at the meeting point, you can store your luggage in the free official storage available at the ticket office. Our staff will give you all the information if needed.
If you reach Pompeii by car, we recommend parking in one among many private car parkings around the Porta Marina Superiore Entrance area, contact us and we can give you tips on the best parking areas. In Herculaneum there is an unguarded municipal car park for an hourly rate, in Via dei Papiri Ercolanesi, a few steps away from the ticket office of the ruins.
Our tour includes a transfer by the local train line called Circumvesuviana. The one way ticket from Pompeii to Herculaneum is included in the price of the tour. Your guide will always be with you during this short train ride. If you’re using your own car, you can reach Herculaneum by your own and meet again the guide at the ticket office in Herculaneum.
Sure. After the end of the visit in Pompeii your guide will give you some free time in order to allow you to rest and refresh yourself before leaving for Herculaneum.
Unfortunately not, if you want to secure a spot, you need to purchase the tour in advance.
The Pompeii and Herculaneum tour will take place regularly even in case of rain, so we recommend bringing an umbrella or a raincoat with you if it rains. The tour is canceled only if the authorities decide to close the site due to emergency weather conditions.
If you are coming from Naples or Sorrento you can reach Pompeii by Circumvesuviana local train (Sorrento - Naples line). Your stop is called “Pompei Scavi - Villa dei Misteri” and the meeting point is only a few steps away. If you are coming from Salerno, you can catch a Trenitalia train and stop at the train station Pompei Centrale: from there it will take you about 20 minutes walking to reach the meeting point. If you plan to come from Rome, catch a high-speed train to Napoli Centrale, then the Circumvesuviana local train line towards Sorrento and stop at Pompei Scavi - Villa dei Misteri

Sergio was lovely, knowledgeable and spoke very good English- his passion and enthusiasm shone through. We did both Pompeii and Herculaneum on a very hot day which was quite tiring but still very interesting. The group size was about 15, which was fine but wouldn’t have wanted any more. Marked down by one star only because there was no real time to ask questions due to the group size and the speed of the tour. Still would thoroughly recommend.

I’d suggest slowing down the pace from time to time, specially when there are elders on the group.

We were fortunate enough to have Antonio as our tour guide, and we could not have asked for a better guide for Pompeii and Herculaneum. The Askos staff who greeted us at the gate were also wonderful. Antonio is incredibly knowledgeable and taught us so much about the history of Pompeii and Herculaneum. He is also funny and patient and is the best kind of your guide you can ask for. I highly recommend doing both as you can then see the differences between the two sites – Herculaneum is also less crowded and has more beautiful mosaics. Antonio taught us so much about how the people lived, their history, and the culture at the time. We walked away amazed and in awe. We can’t recommend this enough!

Outstanding Combination Tour Herculaneum and Pompeii
Outstanding tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Our guide Sergio was excellent. His English is excellent. Sergio is very considerate and patient with our group of 13 people. He has a strong voice, so easy to hear him when talking. The other Askos Tour staff meeting us and checking us in at main gate of Pompeii were also excellent. They escorted us on the city train from Pompeii to Herculaneum. I highly recommend this combination tour. You spend about 2 hours at each site which is more than enough in my opinion. Caution to anyone with bad hips or knees because walking through the streets of Pompeii is difficult, at times. You don’t have level footing and there are inclines and steep declines, at times. Herculaneum is much flatter and their roads better. Bring lots of water and some snacks. You do have opportunities to purchase food and water outside the entry gates. I don’t recommend children under age of 10 for this tour

I would really recommend this tour. Our guide was Diego and he could tell you something interesting about literally anything at either site. He was interesting, fun and was super knowledgeable. We loved this tour. Diego was not only knowledgeable but obviously passionate about the history of the towns as well as passing on his knowledge to the group. He was very friendly and enjoyable to listen to. Pompeii was super busy the day we went so we had to flex a little bit on seeing some of the sights that had hour long lines, but Diego had plenty of things to show us. Herculaneum was much less crowded, selo we got to see everything. This tour is very fast paced and there is a lot of stuff to see and info to hear, and we were tired at the end, but it was a wonderful way to spend our last full day in Italy. Thanks Diego!

Fun and interesting tour with an archaeologist
It was a life long dream to visit Pompeii and Herculaneum. The tour was impeccably organised. We arrived by train from Naples and were met at the entrance by the Askos team. Amazing but a bit overwhelming for one day
The history behind both cities is incredible. There is a lot to see and it’s best if you decide beforehand which you may have more interest in – the size and destruction of Pompeii or the preservation of Herculaneum. Both cities are very different. Although they were both destroyed by the volcano, their stories are not the same. Be prepared for quite a bit of walking. The day is long and, one thing to note, if you add Herculaneum to your tour you will take a 10-15 minute train there from Pompeii. Upon exiting the train there is a long downhill walk to get to Herculaneum that must be climbed if you plan to return by train. We did feel a bit rushed in getting to Herculaneum only to have to wait for almost 30 minutes for 2 other couples who were coming in from Pompeii. There is alot of information and sights to take in and, although it was a fun tour, we’d probably only choose one city to visit if we did it again.

Our guide, Diego, was very knowledgable and enthusiastic. The tour was a great way to see in one day both Pompeii and Herculaneum. Pompeii is so big, we would’ve got lost in it.
