Why take this tour

Pantelleria is an island full of beauty and diversity, ideal for all kinds of visit: from nature to geology, architecture, history.

Since the beginning, a unique civilization in the world has evolved here and  given back to us extraordinary testimonies.

First you’ll learn the  story of the Mesolithic age and the early days of the island. After you’ll go straight to visit the Bronze Age Pantelleria sites, starting from the Village of Mursia.

It is a large cluster of huts, covering about one hectare and divided into three different historical phases. A first phase of chaotic urban development, with single-chamber pseudo-boat huts built on the rocky bank. A second phase with planned development, with elliptical huts divided into two areas: the inhabited area and the one for work use purposes. A last phase, characterized by multi-chamber huts, with previous rooms for domestic use flanked by real shops.

From the cliff on the sea to the prehistoric Acropolis, to the Fortification Wall, it will be a round trip in time. As if by magic, the scenes of that lost world and the main characters of that epic then swallowed up by time will get back to life again. You’ll discover the best from hut construction to bronze production techniques,  to hunting trips at least. fireplaces and cooking plates, leftovers food and pottery vessels remains … it will be like being and walking among them!

After exploring the cliff area, we will walk up to the Upper Plain, with large well-aligned huts, which include an oil mill and a mezzanine area. Further up, small huts used as canteens and the Acropolis, divided into two terraces: the industrial area and the chieftain's hut. Finally, the High Wall: the most impressive Prehistoric fortification in Europe, 200 meters long, 10 meters thick, almost 8 meters high.

Beyond the High Wall, the Necropolis is full of monumental stone mounds, with dromos and burial. You will end this visit through the Prehistory of Pantelleria, living again  those worships and their main characters ... brought back to life by Askos Tours!
